Thanks to so many who have supported us over the past years: To our members, our Underwriters, our donors and all who attend our fundraising events - "Thank YOU". 2012 marks 40 years that the Virgin Islands Public Television System has been serving these islands as a PBS station, and we want to celebrate this historic milestone with you! If you ever watched Sesame Street or Rigmarole; or maybe you enjoy Masterpiece Theatre - (they are celebrating 40 years also); or you love the Carnival and Festival Parades; or it is Little League or Austin City Limits; Antiques Roadshow or Face to Face; WTJX has been a part of your life. If you watched the National Parks documentary by Ken Burns, or our own documentary on The Virgin Islands National Parks, and you just feel like you are actually there while watching Nova, WTJX has been a part of expanding your horizons.
At the same time in history that Great Performances premiered on PBS and HBO was launched in US as the first subscription cable service, WTJX became the Virgin Islands own PBS station.
Forty years later, Public Media continues to fight to maintain its federal funding, Masterpiece Theatre, continues to be a PBS favorite and WTJX has become a well respected source for media in the Virgin Islands with a budget at just under 5 Million Dollars.
Despite our present difficult times, Forty years is worth celebrating and we are inviting you to celebrate with us on Sunday March 18, 2012, from noon till 10:00PM. Watch as the best bands in the Virgin Islands donate their fantastic music for your enjoyment in support of WTJX.
We are asking you to call and make your pledge to support the continuation of local programming. On March 18, call in anytime between Midday and 10:00PM to show your appreciation and give your financial support. No donation is too small, or too large for that matter.
